Phoenix, AZ – December 28, 2022 – The Arizona Food Bank Network is announcing the departure of CEO and President, Angie Rodgers. Rodgers will serve in the Hobbs Administration as the new Director of Economic Security (DES). During her 10-year tenure at AzFBN, her strategic leadership of the AzFBN team led to an expansion from five employees to over 25 talented individuals. This meant more work on behalf of Arizonans struggling with hunger through actions in public policy, improved community programs access, support to member food banks, and produce rescue and transportation. Additionally, during Rodgers’ tenure Innovation work, programs aimed at reaching specific at-risk populations, blossoming from one area of work to incorporate outreach on behalf of seniors, children, tribal communities, military and veteran populations, and more.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at AzFBN, starting with just 5 employees and $1.2 million in resources to now more than 25 employees and $12 million. AzFBN is leading great programs, and I am so proud of the many wins we have had fighting hunger for children and families in Arizona in the last decade. Of course, there is always plenty more to do, but I am so grateful to have been able to lead this group for nearly 10 years, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

In this new role as Director of DES, Rodgers will be responsible for meeting basic needs, including anti-hunger work and SNAP, helping individuals with disabilities, assistance to older adults, supporting child care programs and unemployment benefits. DES is also responsible for work and rehabilitation programs, child support services, domestic violence assistance, homelessness and refugee resettlement.

AzFBN’s Board of Directors and staff congratulate Angie and thank her for her decade-long leadership. Her belief in her team, kindness, and charisma in times of hardship – including navigating a hunger-relief organization during a pandemic – is greatly appreciated and will be missed. In the coming weeks, the AzFBN Board of Directors will determine a process to find Rodger’s successor. Her last day with AzFBN is January 27.
