After an extensive nationwide search, the Board of Directors of the Association of Arizona Food Banks (AAFB) is pleased to announce the hiring of Angie Rodgers as president and CEO. Angie’s first day with AAFB will be Monday, June 10.
“I am thrilled to be joining a team of such dedicated staff, board members and volunteers at AAFB,” said Rodgers. “I hope to build upon the strong foundation laid by AAFB and its members to fight food insecurity in Arizona.”
Rodgers brings more than 15 years’ worth of experience in public policy research and advocacy focusing on human services. Most recently she has worked with the Children, Youth and Families division of the Department of Economic Security (DES) pursuing a federal child welfare waiver. Previously, Rodgers was Governor Napolitano’s Human Services Policy Advisor serving as the liaison between the Governor and DES and the Department of Juvenile Corrections. In this role, she advocated for state resources and improved policies in areas such as food security, health insurance, child support, employment, early intervention and senior services.
Rodgers was previously employed at DES coordinating research and federal policy and has worked in health policy at Children’s Action Alliance. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work at Arizona State University and Bachelors’ degrees in criminology and sociology from the University of Kansas.
Angie is succeeding Ginny Hildebrand, who is retiring at the end of June, after 28 years leading the organization.
