Did you know that your vote can make a difference for the 1 in 7 Arizonans and 1 in 5 kids across our state who are struggling with hunger?
Our elected officials make important decisions on how to spend public funds, and those investments can help (or hinder) access to sufficient, healthy, affordable food. Elected officials also pass or prohibit laws that directly impact the complex issue of food security.
However, voter turnout in the 2026 Arizona primary elections was the lowest we’ve seen since 2008 – 26 percent. This matters because when you choose candidates who best represent you and your community and have a clear path to ending hunger and poverty, your vote becomes your most powerful anti-hunger tool!
The AzFBN advocacy team wants to see 100 percent of eligible voters registered and empowered to exercise their right to vote in 2026. But we get it! Voting can be overwhelming. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get through the next few months until Election Day.
Step one: Are you registered to vote?
Have you moved recently? Did you update your registration to be on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) if you want to receive your ballot by mail? Just want to be sure? All great reasons to check and update your voter registration by going to ServiceArizona.com or you can check by contacting your county here.
Deadlines:
October 5, 2026: Last day to register to vote in the 2026 election.
October 25, 2026: Deadline for accepting requests for a ballot-by-mail for November 3, 2026 General Election.
Step two: What are you voting for?
Still deciding who to vote for? Our Secretary of State’s office has you covered! Their nonpartisan voter guide gives a great overview for each candidate that will be on your ballot.
The Arizona ballot will also have at least 8 statewide propositions depending on the county you reside in. You can find for/against arguments and overviews for the statewide propositions here, which are compiled by the Secretary of State’s office in Arizona. If you’re already registered to vote, you may have received either a mailed or emailed Publicity Pamphlet which is also a great resource! Grab your pamphlet and a neighbor and “talk props” over happy hour! It’s a hefty read, but it’s worth it.
Deadline:
October 30, 2026: Deadline to Vote Early In-Person for the November 3, 2026 General Election by 5pm.
Step three: Get out to vote!
So now that you’re registered and you’ve done your research, it’s time to get your ballot in! If you’re already registered to vote and are on the AEVL, ballots will be mailed starting in early October. If you prefer to vote in-person, you can find a list of polling sites here.
Did you request a ballot, but didn’t put it in the mail in time (at least 7 days before the election – October 27*)? You can use any ballot drop box or visit a polling site within your county on election day. All mail-in ballots must be received by 7pm on November 3, 2026.
Are you voting in-person? Polling locations will be open from 6am-7pm on November 3, 2026, and as long as you are in line by 7pm (and stay in line) you will be able to vote.
*USPS advises when voters will both receive and send a ballot by mail, voters should submit their ballot request early enough that it is received by their election officials at least 15 days before Election Day at a minimum, or as early as possible.
